Hurricane Recovery

Caribe Resort is back open for business. Needless to say we have some clean up around property but no significant damage.

Hope to see you for a beautiful Labor Day weekend.

Tropical Storm Isaac

Last night Governor Bentley annouced a state of emergency for Alabama. He issued a mandatory evacuation for Zone 1 and 2 which includes Orange Beach and Caribe Resort. Caribe Resort is prepared for Tropical Storm Isaac / soon to be Hurricane Isaac. All balcony furniture has been brought into the units, pool furniture is tied down and the doors across the property have been secured. We will have security present in the guard house throughout the evening and into tomorrow midday. We also have staff on site in each building for emergencies overnight. All residents staying do so at their own risk.

If we lose power the generators will only power the elevators, stairway lighting, common area lighting and possible outlets in the common area. They will not power anything in the units.

If you plan on arriving please check in at the guard house so we know you are in house.

Lastly, If you are inhouse and we lose TV signal from our system, simply go to channel 112 and above for local viewing.

We will update the owners bulletin board as the storm conditions develop.

Tropical Storm Issac

Today we will begin the preparation of bracing Caribe Resort for the impact of Tropical Storm Issac. At this point we will begin to bring balcony furniture in and securing balcony doors. The cost of this effort will be billed to COA. After the storm if you need assistance in bringing furniture back out to the balcony Caribe staff will gladly assist. If your unit is on the Caribe Realty rental program your balcony furniture will be brought back out and your unit will be ready as always for the next arriving guest.

This bulletin board will be updated as the storm advances.

Tropical Storm Issac

It looks like it is that time again! To insure the safety and security of Caribe Resort our staff and management is closely watching the storm develop in the Gulf. Please be assured that your patio furniture will be moved into your unit by the Caribe Resort staff. This is in an effort to protect the common elements of the association property and your personal balcony belongings. We will determine when and if this is necessary. In additon if the storm develops to a significant storm in which power is down for a significant period of time. The Caribe staff will make every effort to gain access to your personal unit to remove spoiled food and melted frozen food from your unit.

If your unit is on another rental management program from Meyer, Resort Quest, Brett Robinson or any other company that has a different site code for hte entry door lock we will not attempt to enter until the very last moment since we cannot make a key to those units.

We certainly hope this storm is not an issue but we will be prepared to handle any emergency.

Have a great weekend.

Caribe TV system software upgrade and Misc info.

We have completed the finishing touches to the new Caribe TV system. This week we installed a software upgrade to the system and new hardware equipment. The result of this will be that every TV will need to be rescanned. The analog channels that duplicated the HD channels have been moved to channels 112 and above. The channels are now consolidated as such with no duplication of analog and digital channels sitting next to each other. This system is now state of the art and has an outstanding picture. Hopefully these upgrades will eliminate some of the viewing problems we have been experiencing in the past.

Many owners have asked about being able to record via a DVR etc.. This is now possible with the purchase of a TiVo box. In addition, if you choose to keep an older analog TV you can now use the TiVo box to get all the channels without purchasing a new TV. Tivo boxes can be purchased at Best Buy, Amazon etc… for around $100.00.

Please note that in the spriing of 2013 we plan to eliminate the analog channels so plan to either purchase a new TV or a TiVo set top box.

As summer comes to an end we will be consentrating our efforts on getting the deep cleaning and maintenance to the common areas addressed. In addtion the board has asked for a capital expense list that will be planned for in the coming months so please pay attention to your mail and notifications.

On August 23rd thru the 26th there will be a SEC beach fest promotion in Gulf Shores to kick off the college football season. For more information and tickets please call the Caribe front desk at 251.980.9000.

Life is better at the beach so come on down!

Robert McDaniel Memorial January 28th, 2012

On January 28th, 2012 we will say good bye to our friend and co-worker, Robert McDaniel. There will be an informal gathering on January 28th from 12 noon to 1pm on the beach in Perdido Key. The exact location is 6.4 miles east of Caribe Resort. You can park at Public Beach Parking #2 or across the street in the strip mall where Perdido Realty and the old Cigar and Wine Store is. After the memorial there will be a gathering at Robert’s house located at 5735 Hermosa Circle, Pensacola, FL.

The family has asked not to purchase flowers or plants and if you would like to help the family, a check can be written to Robert’s daughter, Kayleigh McDaniel who is currently attending college in the midwest. If you would like to donate but cannot attend, you may drop off a donation to Caribe Resort’s front desk and we will ensure these funds get to his daughter.
