Today around 10:00am we will be cutting over to our new cable tv system. There will be little or no interruption in viewing. The new channel line up will be put in everyones unit sometime today. A few changes to note,
1. The TV guide will change from channel 97 to 95.
1. You may have to rescan your TV to recieve the maximum channels (Every TV is different)
3. We will be adding additonal HD quality channels in the near future.

Dear Caribe Resort Condominium Owner,
On July 6th 2010 at 5:00pm the Orange Beach City Council will be holding a public hearing at Council Chambers and vote on an amendment to ordinance No. 172 zoning ordinance, case #0504-PUDA-10 – Planned Unit Development major modification – Outcast Charter, Caribe PUD Modification – Larry Wireman – applicant: Outcast Charter.
The following is requested:
– Convert 18 boat slips from residential use to commercial use.
– Up to ten (10) Wave Runners
– Up to (2) 12 – person pontoon boats
– Up to six (6) – 6 person charter boats
– Up to three (3) – 20 person charter boats
– Provide gravel parking for 125 vehicles including paved ADA compliant / handicap parking. Note: this will be landscaped and include a barrier fence to Caribe Tower B.
– Construct a 1200 square foot 30’ x 40’ Charter Outcast building.
– Maintain option to build 312 unit condominium tower.
There is no request or permit for a fueling station. The slips used will be docks located between Cobalt Restaurant and Caribe Tower B. People using this area will not have access to Caribe Resort unless they are owners or owner’s guests of Caribe Resort.

What you are seeing on TV is happening along the coast. Tar balls are washing up and the clean up is continuous. Back bay waters have been affected and the pass is being opened and closed for boat traffic as needed. It truely is a disaster but Caribe Resort is doing very well. Due to the multiple amenities Caribe offers with slides, pools and our famous lazy river, our guests are truely enjoying themselves. 40,000 square feet of pool surface is enough to keep everyone happy! If you are an owner or guest do not hesitate to come down. The restaurants are open the traffic is low so come on down and enjoy the best resort on the gulf coast.
On Tuesday June 15th at 5:00pm the City of Orange Beach will hold the weekly City Council Meeting at City Council Chambers. On the agenda to discuss will be the proposed amendment to ordinance No. 172 Zoning Ordinance, case No. 504 -PUDA-10 Outcast Charter, Caribe PUD Major Modification.

As a note, this is the current gravel parking area between Cobalt and Caribe B tower. This permit does not include the distribution or sale of fuels.
The developer sees this as another valuable amenity to the resort. The slips used will be to the west of the current gate and no users of these slips will be permitted to access Caribe property unless they are an owner or owners guest. No parking will be allowed at the current towers and no boats for Outcast Charters will be docked behind Caribe Resort towers B, C, D.

At today’s planning commission meeting a major modification was approved for the Caribe PUD to develope Outcast Charters. This includes changing 18 boat slips from private to commercial use, constructing a 30′ by 40′ dock store/office and a gravel parking lot for the purpose of operating a charter fishing and rental business from the marina. It also allows the developer to keep his rights to build the 312 unit condominium tower. As an added note,
the marina did not request a permit for a fuel station on site.
Unfortunately there are tar balls on the beach. Below is the official warning to not swim until further notice. Our pools and grounds are clean, clear and awaitiing your arrival.
Swimming advisory issued
The Alabama Department of Public Health has issued a swimming advisory for the waters off Gulf Shores, Orange Beach and Fort Morgan effective at p.m. today. A swimming advisory means that individuals are discouraged from swimming in the affected waters. However, it does not mean the beaches are closed. Visitors are still welcome to sunbathe and walk the beach, but we suggest they swim in a pool or enjoy our many off-beach activities.
Additionally, the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has closed all state waters in the gulf and some inshore areas for fishing. The pier at Gulf State Park will be closed for fishing effective at 6 p.m., but will remain open to sightseers.

City officials are aware that small tar balls, ranging in size from a dime to a baseball, have washed ashore along the beaches within Gulf Shores. The Shoreline Cleanup and Assessment Technique Team (SCATT) is engaged, and these occurrences are being handled according to the policies and procedures of the Unified Command, as well as all supporting organizations. Appropriate clean-up crews are being deployed and will be monitoring for further impact. While it is probable that we will continue to see sporadic incidents such as this occur, every effort is being made to keep the oil from reaching our gulf coast beaches.
The BP oil spill, and its effect on the northern gulf coast, has been an evolving reality. All City officials, in coordination with other local, state, and federal agencies, are working effortlessly to stay ahead of, and monitor, this situation.
Should you encounter tar balls along the beach, please take the following action:
1. Do take a photo with an item beside to show the scale, preferably a ruler.
2. Note the color, appearance, location, date, and time.
3. Report your finding to 1-866-448-5816.
4. AVOID CONTACT…DO NOT TOUCH and, please, DO NOT BURY. Allow the appropriate clean-up crews to remove!
5. If skin contact occurs, flush with water or remove with baby oil.
The City of Gulf Shores will continue to examine all aspects of the BP oil incident and provide our community with the latest, most accurate, information as it is reported to us.

On June 1st at 5pm the City of Orange Beach will discuss Larry Wireman’s proposal for opening Outcast Charters on the vacant water front land between Cobalt and Caribe.
Griffin Powell, Planner II, explained that the proposed amendment is a request for a minor modification to the Caribe Planned Unit Development to convert 18 existing boat slips at the marina from private residential use to commercial use for the purpose of operating a charter fishing and rental business from the site. The site plan modifications include a gravel parking area with 125 spaces and a 1,200 sf dock store / office building.
